  • Dr. Kesana Srinivasa Rao (Associate Professor - Economics)

    Dr. Kesana Srinivasa Rao, Associate Professor holds M.A. in Applied Economics, Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics from Andhra University and was awarded a Ph.D. in Applied Economics on the thesis “Rural Non-Farm Employment and Residual sector Hypothesis” by Andhra University. His wide interests in research include Rural Development, Skill Development, Human Development and Economic Development.

    He taught Master’s Degree students in Human Resource Planning and Development (HRPD), and Advanced Diploma students in Human Resource Planning and Development (NILERD) at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi. He was the coordinator of Medium and Short term Training Programmes to International Civil Servants from all the continents in the World (except Europe). He has taught and trained junior, middle and senior level civil servants of 130 countries in the area of Human Resource Planning and Development, Economics (Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Indian Economy and Economic Development and Statistics), Educational Planning, and Research Methodology. He used to take classes of the Indian Civil Servants at LBSNAA, Mussoorie. He also trained Young Professionals for CAPART, Ministry of Rural Development for about six years.

    Dr. Rao has research experiences of 26 years and drafted around 40 Project Reports and presented/published around 36 papers in various peer reviewed, refereed and UGC care, Scopus and Web of Science journals and chapters in Books. He has presented 21 papers at National and International conferences and participated in 53 national/international Conferences/Seminars/Workshops. Some of his notable and important recent studies include: Homeless Population in Uttar Pradesh, Doubling of Farmers Income by 2022-23 (Ist Year completed), Vegetable Cultivation in Uttar Pradesh, and Skill Gap Analysis in Uttar Pradesh. Before joining GIDS, he was a Joint Director at the Institute of Applied Manpower Research, New Delhi where he completed some important studies, such as Training Needs Assessment in Major Ports of India, Training Needs Assessment in India, Assessment of Manpower Requirements in ITI Industry and ATS Evaluation in India, Privatisation of Agriculture Services in India, Identification of Demand for various Skills among the rural poor in India, and Employment patterns in MSMEs.

    Dr. Rao has coordinated several Training Programmes and also attended many Important Training Programmes for career development. He is a Life member of Indian Society of Labour Economics and Andhra Pradesh Economic Association.
