Welcome to GIDS Library : A Learning Resource Centre

The GIDS library is an invaluable resource center for students, researchers and faculty of Social Sciences disciplines. The library is as old as the Institute and has built its robust collection of rare documents in social science research. It is an asset for academicians, researchers and policy makes in this part of the country. The collection is more than 40,000 Library documents covering books, reference volumes, monographs of national & international organizations, U.P. Government Official publications, Bound volumes and Microform & CD Collection.

The GIDS library is a modern state of the art, fully automated providing online and electronic library facilities to its scholars .It provides access to the rare academic resources and infrastructure for its users. The core areas are economic, sociology, education, political sciences and their allied fields.

The library is linked to a few on-line subscriptions and provides this facility from any networked computer within the Institute. The commitment of the library is towards fulfilling its mission of facilitating access to current, global and relevant information by identifying, acquiring, organizing and retrieving information to serve the academic needs of research fraternity.

WORLD BANK DEPOSITORY LIBRARY STATUS

GIDS Library is the WB Depository from 1983 wherein it holds all the WB Publications for wider academic use. Now GIDS library avails their e-library facility also.

 
LIBRARY NEWS AND EVENTS

The Institute Library conducts workshops on Library Orientation and Training Programme to students, researchers and Teachers for use of e-resources. The recent programme are :

Information Resources Management for Social Scientists in Emerging Knowledge Era.

Capacity Building in Information Resource Management.

The library also organizes Academic programmes in partnership with the World Bank Group.

 
PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN

The library completed an ICSSR sponsored project on "Compilation of Union Catalogue of Government Publications of Uttar Pradesh".

A Ministry of Information Technology sponsored project on "Creating a Digitized Repository of GIDS Publications" has also been completed.

 
WORKING HOURS

10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on all working days except Sundays and Second Saturdays.
