  • Dr. Prashant Kumar Trivedi (Associate Professor - Sociology)

    Dr. Prashant Kumar Trivedi has done his Doctorate on Dalit Women and Social Development: A Sociological Study of Lucknow District of Uttar Pradesh from the University of Lucknow in Sociology. His research interests include the political economy of land reforms, rural studies and issues relating to Dalits, Muslims and Women, with a particular focus on Uttar Pradesh, India. He has published articles on a variety of subjects, including gender and law, caste and violence and inequality in development, in various journals, including Economic and Political Weekly, International Journal of Rural Management, Journal of Land and Rural Studies, Studies in Indian Politics, Journal of Indian School of Political Economy and Social Change. His latest book ‘Land and Labour in Indian Agriculture-Discourses on Growth and Equity’ came from Sage Publications in 2021. Before this, he co-authored ‘Backward and Dalit Muslims-Education, Employment, and Poverty’ (Rawat Publications, 2020) and published ‘The Globalisation Turbulence: Emerging Tensions in India Society (Rawat Publications, 2011) and coauthored ‘Weapon of the Oppressed: An Inventory of People’s Rights in India (Daanish Books, 2011). Prior to joining the Giri Institute, he was faculty at the Council for Social Development, New Delhi, since 2006. During this period, he was Book Review Editor of Social Change, a peer-reviewed journal published by Sage.
