  • Dr. Nomita P. Kumar (Assistant Professor - Economics)

    Dr. Nomita P. Kumarholds Master’s degree in Economics from Lucknow University and a PhD in Economics from GIDS, Lucknow, Chatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. She was awarded ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship at GIDS from 1989-1991 for her Doctorate and UGC Fellowship for Post-Doctoral Research during 2003-2006. She has almost 34 years of research/ teaching experience and has worked in different research projects at the Institute for State Government, NABARD and UNICEF etc. She worked for Second State Finance Commission as Senior Research Fellow under Government of Uttar Pradesh. Her research interest includes Employment and labour market, gender issues, small scale industry, regional disparity and social issues related to women and girls.

    Many of her sole-authored research papers have been published by national/ international publishers of repute including Economic and Political Weekly, Indian Journal of Labour Economics, Indian Journal of Human Development, Indian Journal of Regional Science, Asian Economic Review, Productivity, Man and Development and Madhya Pradesh Journal of Social Science Research. She has also contributed three Books entitled “Women Entrepreneurship in Urban Sector”, “Child Marriage and its Consequences” and “Indian Widows in Search of God” and numerous research chapters to edited Books viz; “Regional Disparities in Economic and Social Development”, in Growth, Disparities and Inclusive Development in India Perspective from the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh, edited by Prof R. P. Mamgaim, Springer Singapore, Tracking Public Outlays on Health Care with Focus on Outcomes in Uttar Pradesh in Health, Gender and Development: Multi- Disciplinary Perspectives, eds. S.
