  • Dr. Chittaranjan Senapati (Associate Professor)

    Dr. Senapati did his M.A, M. Phil, and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was awarded Jindal Scholarship & ICSSR fellowship during his M.Phil and PhD researchHe has received training on Academic Capacity Building and Methodology Module in the year 2007 from the International Development Department, University of Birmingham. Prior to joining Giri Institute of Development Studies he has worked as Assistant Professor at Sardar Patel Institute of Economic and Social Research, Ahmedabad (Gujarat), and Indian Institute of Dalit Studies, New Delhi. He also worked as a UGC-Post–Doctoral Fellow at JNU, New Delhi. He has also been associated with the School of Liberal Studies, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar for a year.
    Dr Senapati has presented more than 40 papers in International and National seminars and invited as resource person and keynote address on various occasions. He has completed three international and fourteen national research projects and contributed significant working papers. Projects on South Asia, South East & South West Pacific, Central Asia and India. In addition to India, he has undertaken several other research studies on Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. He received special academic award from the Republic of Kazakhstan to undertake research on Kazakhstan's economy and polity.

    He has more than fifteen sole-authored research papers and couple of books. One of his significant book Exclusion and Poverty in India and Central Asia: A Diversity and Development Perspective was published by Penguin Random House Company, Bloomington, U.S.A.

    He is a widely travelled scholar and visited various academic institutions of repute in the European, South and Central Asian Countries, Georgia etc. He is a member of many international and national professional bodies that includes the Economic Research Institute (ERI), Ministry of Economics and Budget Planning, Republics of Kazakhstan, Indian Defence and Strategic Analyses, New Delhi, Indian Political Science Association, Political Economy Association, India Sociological Society, International Political Science Associatio.

    His core areas of research include Ethnicity, Human Security, Human Rights and Development; Public Policy, Global Development Issues; Glocal Issues, and Social Science Methods.
